We are currently seeking a motivated and ambitious Junior Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team in Dublin. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or an early-career Quantity Surveyor to gain hands on experience working on some of Ireland's most prestigious construction projects while learning from experienced commercial professionals.
The Role
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, Managing Quantity Surveyor, or Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial management of projects throughout their lifecycle. You will gain exposure to procurement, subcontractor management, cost reporting, valuations, contract administration, and commercial controls while contributing to the successful delivery of major construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement & Tendering
Assist with take-offs and tender documentation.
Issue tender enquiries and track tender returns.
Review quotations against drawings, specifications, and scope requirements.
Prepare tender comparisons and identify commercial risks, exclusions, and scope gaps.
Support communication with subcontractors and suppliers throughout the procurement process.
Commercial Administration
Assist in preparing monthly applications and valuations.
Support the assessment of subcontractor and consultant payment applications.
Assist with payment processing through SAP.
Maintain accurate commercial records and documentation.
Reporting & Cost Control
Support the preparation of monthly commercial reports, CVRs, cashflows, and project reviews.
Assist in monitoring project costs and forecasting financial performance.
Contribute to maintaining commercial procedures and reporting deadlines.
Contract & Document Management
Maintain commercial records and project documentation on SharePoint.
Support subcontractor appointment processes and ensure documentation is complete before work commences.
Assist with variation tracking and commercial correspondence.
Commercial Support
Assist with value engineering initiatives and cost-saving opportunities.
Support dispute resolution and claims preparation when required.
Provide estimating support during tender periods as needed.
What We're Looking For
Essential
Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a related discipline.
Strong numerical and analytical skills.
Excellent attention to detail and organisational abilities.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and manage multiple priorities.
Desirable
Previous placement, internship, or work experience within the construction industry.
Knowledge of construction contracts and commercial processes.
Experience using SAP or similar commercial systems.
