The Role
As a Project Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in managing the financial, commercial, and contractual aspects of projects from post-tender handover through to final account close-out. You’ll work closely with Project Managers, Design Managers, subcontractors, and the wider commercial team to ensure value for money, contractual compliance, and cost control.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Lead subcontract procurement, from tender package preparation and analysis through to contract execution
Collaborate with project teams and design consultants to ensure tender information is complete, accurate, and value-engineered where possible
Manage and monitor project costs in line with budgets, preparing and updating cashflows and cost value reconciliations
Prepare, negotiate, and agree interim valuations, variations, and final accounts with clients and subcontractors
Carry out site measurements from drawings or on-site visits
Maintain accurate procurement trackers, change order registers, and cost reporting tools
Attend and contribute to project meetings, providing all necessary commercial information
Mentor and support assistant or graduate quantity surveyors as required
Skills & Experience Required
Degree in Quantity Surveying, ideally a RICS-accredited degree or be working towards MRICS chartership
Minimum 3 years’ experience with a main contractor, ideally including Design & Build projects
Strong knowledge of UK construction contracts (JCT D&B preferred), building regulations, and commercial risk management
Familiarity with BCIS and elemental cost benchmarking
Excellent numerical, analytical, negotiation and time-managementskills
Ability to read and interpret technical drawingsand understand construction methods
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Valid CSCS card preferred
Willingness to travel to sites as required
Strong attention to detail and teamworking capability
Proficient in Microsoft Office
